Life in Latin America
There is another very important reason to learn Spanish and that is that seriously, Latinos like to have fun!
It’s not that us Anglo Saxons don’t like to have fun because we do, but there is a tendency in our countries to “live to work” rather than “work to live.” And Latinos definitely fit the latter. Sure they go to work, but the reason for living is to enjoy the world around them.
Possibly the differences are that people from cold climates historically accustomed themselves to staying inside whereas peoples from warmer climes are more used to venturing outside. Whatever the reason is, when you’re in Latin America, people are always ready to go out, socialize, get something good to eat or drink, and just simply have a blast.
Many times I miss this kind of “ambiente” that’s always so dynamic in Latin America. There’s always music blasting and people are always up for a walk or a cup of coffee or even just a visit and that means talking to your friend’s mom, dad, kids, grandmother – whoever lives in the house.
I really hope anyone reading my blog post ends up learning Spanish so they can experience a different kind of lifestyle.
